(Page 2) •
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID ~ M-84-069
INSPECTION DATE 9 11 00 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was performed by the Division as part of its monitoring of 110 Construction Materials permits. The operator
was contacted about the inspection and a time was arranged to meet at the site. The operator named on page one was
present throughout the inspection.
The site has been active this season. There are several stockpiles of product and pitrun in the pit, and processing
equipment set up in the pit also. The equipment is wheeled, and there are no fluids or fuel stared onsite. There is no
contaminated soil onsite, or debris to haul away.
The stockpiles include screened and crushed gravel, roadbase and fine material. One of the new roadbase piles has been
placed in the former location of the permit ID sign. The operator has not had a chance to re-post the ID sign, but should
endeavor to do so at the earliest opportunity. Several permit boundary/phase markers were indicated by the operator during
the inspection.
The east end of the pit has been mined down to final grade, which is about 8 to 10 feet below surrounding elevation. The
east slope has been graded to 3:1, but not reclaimed further. Topsail is piled in the SE and NE corners. There are two
vertical highwalls in the pit, neither of which is taller than 6 feet. Reclamation will include the reduction of these two
features, stockpile removal, some ripping of compaction, topsoil replacement and revegetation.
The bond was recently recalculated, and raised to 515,306. That amount was calculated for an amount of disturbance
covering the entire site (greater than the currently existing amountl, and the bond is felt to be sufficient at this time.
The operator has not reported any activity in several years, though now there are a few changes to the site. In the coming
year, there can be some reclamation performed, and all changes reported in the next annual report.
There was a small area of thistle noted near the south-central topsoil pile, which should be treated to prevent its spread
into additional areas. The patch is not noted as a problem in this report, but could become one if allowed to spread.
There were no problems found at this time.
