(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1 Q9~-nom
INSPECTION DATE: 1nr0Z/nS INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: ° iw
OBSERVATIONS
This was a normal monitoring inspection conducted by Tony Waldron of DMG along with Jason Frieberger of
Baca County. The site is located approximately 1 1 miles north and 2 miles west of Springfield, Colorado. The pit
is situated in upland areas immediately adjacent to Sand Creek. The majority of the permit area is on the south
side of the creek, however, a small portion is located on the northwest side of The creek.
There was a mine identification sign present at the entrance to the mine site and the affected area was clearly
delineated. This site was converted from a 1 1 Oc into a 1 12c in 2001. The current mining area is in the southwest
corner of the pit and mining is progressing to the east and north. The operator is mining this site in a very orderly
manner with topsoil being salvaged in advance of the mining and mining slopes being maintained at
approximately 3H:1 V. As mining continues to progress to the east and north, the area will soon be big enough
so that contemporaneous reclamation can begin on this site. In this way, topsoil can be removed and
replaced on re-graded areas simultaneously, thereby, eliminating the need for long-term storage and allowing
portions of the pit to be re-seeded periodically as the topsoil is replaced.
No problems were observed and this concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Soike Ausmus
OPERATOR: Baca County
STREET: 741 Mnin Street
CITY/STATE/ZIP: STxin9fialri,,,('C~ R1fV3
cc: T CE
I' BL
r FS
I' H W
I' HMWMD (CH)
T SE
t WOCD (CH)
I' OTHER
