(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: ~-~ 9s;R-m~
INSPECTION DATE: ll-1~ame INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: KI S
OBSERVATIONS
This was a monitoring inspection conducted as part of DMG's inspection program for permitted operations.
Don Blake, the Lincoln County Land Use Administrator, and Albert Pepper, also with Lincoln County,
accompanied us on the inspection.
The identification sign was properly posted at the public entrance to the site. The affected area boundary
markers had been moved to mark the proposed boundaries for converting the pit to a 1 12 permit. The owner
decided to not allow enlargement of the pit, so the conversion application was withdrawn in June of this year
and the County has begun reclamation. However, the boundary markers have not yet been replaced to their
original positions. Posey indicated that they did not need to be moved back because they are now in
reclamation and unlikely to disturb any area outside the permitted mine boundaries.
As visible in the attached photos, manure has been imported to the site. The operator has graded the slopes of
the excavated area to an average of 3:1 and has begun spreading the composted manure on the slopes to
prepare for seeding. Posey advised the operator that the compost was a bit thin on the upper west side of the
pit.
No problems were noted. This concluded the inspection of the Smith Ranch Pit No. 2 mine site.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Mr. Don Blake cc: CE
OPERATOR: Lincoln County Land Use Office BL
STREET: P_(~_ Rax 39 FS
HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Huga, C(7 ROA91 HMWMD (CH)
SE
WQCD (CH)
OTHER
