<br />C~ <br />(Page 2) • <br />MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-77-223 <br />INSPECTION DATE 11/10/98 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS AJW <br />OBSERVATIONS <br />This was a normal monitoring inspection conducted by Tony Waldron of DMG along with George <br />Gotto, III of Valco Inc. The site is located approximately 2 miles south of Wiley, Colorado. <br />The pit is situated in a fairly level rangeland pasture that appears to be an ancient terrace <br />of the Arkansas River which presently lies approximately 1 mile to the south. <br />There was a mine identification sign posted at the entrance to the mine site and the permit <br />area was delineated by fencing and natural field boundaries. There currently is a small pit <br />(approximately 10 acres) opened up along the west central side of the permit area. Topsoil <br />has been properly salvaged and is stockpiled along the west side of the pit. There was a <br />small amount of water in the pit bottom, but, according the the operator, this is the result <br />of surface runoff which has occurred over the past two relatively wet years. This should be <br />monitored during future inspections to ensure that it is not exposed groundwater in the pit <br />bottom. <br />The financial warranty for this site is $5,000.00. Based on this and other inspections of <br />similar sites, this amount would appear to be low for this mine site. However, due to time <br />constraints, the inspector was unable to gather site specific data to re-calculate the <br />financial warranty at this time. As a result, this site will be re-inspected to gather <br />pertinent information such as pit dimensions and topsoil volumes so that an updated <br />reclamation liability cost estimate can be prepared.
