III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the CDMG. The Rimrock Mine
consists of approximately seven acres of reclamation. The weather was hot with a
thunderstorm brewing to the west. Ground conditions were dry.
Signs and Markers
The mine identification sign was legible even after being peppered by a paint ball attack at
some point in the recent past. It should recover nicely after a good rain. The sign is in
compliance with Rules 4.02 and 4.30.1(3).
Hydrologic Balance
The sediment pond appeared in good condition and was holding a small puddle of water in
the northwest corner near the embankment. No evidence of runoff within the previous few
days was noted.
Revegetation
Vegetation at the site is progressing nicely due to more favorable growing conditions this
year. The DMG completed revegetation sampling in the month of June and the final,
tabulated results will be available in the near future. Warm season grasses are beginning to
set seed heads, especially side oats grama, which is relatively abundant at this site. Blue
grama grass was noted but has not seeded out at this time. Cool season grasses appear to
have completed their growing cycle for the season and did not appear to have been grazed.
Cattle were not observed on the reclaimed area or in the surrounding rangeland.
Overall, the site appeared in good condition for the summer season
