Operations were under way during our
inspection.
While operations were being conducted in accordance with the mining and reclamation plane,
DMG inspectors saw evidence of what may have been offeite damage along the northwest aide of
the permit area, along the drainage ditch. Accordingly, we checked all of the markers and
boundaries of the site (finding one notation error on the map) and discovered that offeite
damage did extend beyond the marked boundaries of the permit area. When questioned about the
apparent mining and backfilling, Bill Casey of Elbert County Road & Bridge stated that the
damage was done by flooding earlier in the year, and that Elbert County had repaired the
cutting at the request of the landowner.
About sixteen pictures of this site were taken, including the cutting damage and a line-of-
eight picture along the boundary markers.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Dan McAndrews
OPERATOR Elbert County Commissioners
STREET P.O.
