III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the King Coal Mine for the month of August, 1996.
The new stoker coal bin is finished. The old stoker coal bin has been removed and the area has
been cleaned up. It remains to be seen how the new structure will function without spillage of
the oil sprayed on the coal.
The coal that was deposited, by the recent 100+ year precipitation event, on the pasture below
the mine site, was cleaned up. The coal was removed down to bare dirt without any major
disturbance due to muddy conditions.
The culverts and ditches on site have been cleaned and(or replaced as necessary. All other
problems resulting from the large precipitation event have been rectified.
The diversion ditch around the coal waste pile is in place and functional. Grading of the top of
the pile ensures positive drainage.
