(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-i 077-asta
INSPECTION DATE: Angnct 9a~ ~nm

INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: _~Dq~
This inspection was conducted as apre-operation inspection as part of the conversion of the mining permit from a 1.7
acre 110 permit to a 160 acre 112c permit. Mr. Troy Crane, County Commissioner, accompanied Mr. Tony Waldron and
me (AI Amundson) on the inspection. The pit is being mined below grade at a slope of between 3h and 4h to lv and is
presently active. Material is being mined and screened, topsoil has been saved and the operation looks good.
The sign was observed to be adequate, and the boundaries, while not completely marked were inspected with regard to
man-made structures within 200 feet of the boundaries. None were noted.
The operator discussed the option of mining down to rock, estimated to be approximately 40 to 60 feet deep. We
suggested that if that is the case, the county should either modify the application or submit a technical revision showing
the depth "down to rock, as much as 100feet below grade". The pit would be excavated with slopes at 3:1 or 4:1 with a
bench in the middle of the slope to break the grade and interrupt the water flow in the event of a large precipitation
event.
The south slope and the east slope of the pit have been sloped and re-vegetated and both appear to be growing well.
The operation appears that it will be in compliance once the permit conversion is completed.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Mr. Trov Crane
OPERATOR: Baca County
STREET: 741 Main Street
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Springf'iel Colorado R107'i
cc: Fir.
