(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # 1"~-~~102
INSPECTION DATE 11/11/98 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS AJW
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as a result of a complaint received on 11/5198 about a possible
illegal mining operation. The location for this site is approximately 15 miles southeast of
Pueblo, Colorado in sections 7 & 8, Township 24 S, Range 65 W, and the complainant provided
directions that eventually led to a farm owned by Ed and Penny Carlson. Mrs. Carlson was
home and it was explained to her that a complaint had been filed with our office about
someone mining in the general vicinity of her home. She was unaware of any mining in the
immediate area and stated that there was a mine located several miles away off of Cedarwood
Road. No mining equipment was observed around the farm and the road leading up to the farm
was in good condition and did not appear to have had a lot of heavy traffic on it recently.
There also was no evidence such as spilled material along the roadway.
Upon returning to the office, we did receive a letter from the Indian Summer Ranch Homeowners
Association (the original complainant) stating that they did not file the original complaint.
In addition, Rex Angelovich, a local contractor who does work for the association, contacted
the office and stated that he had removed some material from near the Carlson Ranch. Our
office then sent Mr. Angelovich an "Is it Mining" letter so that we could determine where
this activity was occurring and if it was indeed mining or not. As of the date this report
was written, we have not received the completed letter. Once this is received, additional
follow-up will be conducted as necessary to determine the official status of this operation.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Rex Angelovich
OPERATOR Same
STREET 1216 Lake Ave.
CITY/STATE/ZIP Pueblo, Colorado 81004
cc: Jim Stevens
^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
^ OTHER
