AI <br />Weaver was not available so the inspecflon was conducted alone. fie mine Lc <br />activey producing coal, hauMg coal and hauling refuse. fie weather was cloudy <br />and cold and the ground was dry. <br />Slpns and Markers -The mine ID sign was at the gate to the entrance of the mine <br />and contained ail of the necessary information. Both the topsoil stockpile and <br />the B and C horizon subsoil piles were properly marked. <br />Roads -The road from the gate to the facilities area was in good condfffon. fie haul <br />road to the refuse pile was also in good condition (there were no ruts and no <br />problems due fo runoff or erosion). fie two hack road that goes around the <br />refuse pile (to ponds 3 and 4) is also in good shape. fiere h a short segment of <br />road that goes from pond 1 up to pond 21hat h heaNly rutted. Affhough this <br />road is not the only access to pond 2 it should be worked on so It does not <br />become a problem. <br />Hydroloplc ealancs -Pond 4 is dry. fie pond h well vegetated and in good <br />condition. <br />- Pond 3 is a Med, trash water pond chat is in good condition. <br />- Pond 1 is well vegetated and In good shape. The level of the water was <br />Just below the discharge pipe. It appears tt-at the pond was cleaned <br />recency as there was a pile of sediment at the inlet to the pond. <br />- Pond 2 is a lined pond and it h in good shape. <br />- Pond S is in good shape and well vegetated. fiere is water in the pond <br />about one inch above the bottom of the discharge pipe. <br />- fie SAE at the explosNes storage area needs to be fixed. There is a small <br />guly on the western side of the sump where water/sediment can get <br />around the sump and bypass the straw bales. If there h a prectpltatlon <br />event ff h possible that sediment could get off site. <br />Proc~ssinp Wash -The refuse pile is in good shape and there h no water poling up <br />on if. fiey appear to be working on the lost few lifts before they run out of <br />room. fiere is a larger than usual amount of uncompacted refuse on the pile <br />at this time. fih needs to be spread out and compacted. fie dffch around <br />the refuse pile is clew and in good condition. <br />ttevepMalion/RedamaNon Success -The vegetative cover on the reclaimed portion <br />of the refuse pile Is very good. The part of the pile chat was covered last spring <br />was seeded in December and h covered with mulch. fie reseeding that was <br />
