ORIGINAL -PUBLIC FILE
(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: r~-tea~_t~~
INSPECTION DATE: Riinm~ INSPECTORt]S INITIALS: -.BIL-
OBSERVATION
The Division conducted a monitoring inspection of the site on 8/10/OS,as
part of sites to be inspected during the fiscal year 2005-06, to make sure
the sites are in compliance with the MRLD Rules and Regulations. The site
consists of six abandoned mines before 1976 within the 30 acres permitted.
Crowley County agreed when they permitted the site in 1982, to reclaim
these old sites when the mining is completed. The site is in an old
alluvium deposit, with no measurable topsoil. Present during the inspection
was Mr. David Ragsdale, Road and Bridge Supervisor, for Crowley County.
Site was not active at the time of the inspection. The entire permit area
was walked and inspected, Permit area is fenced and sign properly posted.
With the pre-law disturbance included approximately 25 acres appeared to
have been disturbed. Active mining appears to be taking place along the
east side of the permit area. Operator is mining to an approximate slope of
3:1 to assist in the recalamtion efforts and limit the cut and fill areas.
The lack of topsoil and moisture the last few years had not helped the
reclaimed site achieve the vegetation cover. The reclaimed slopes appeared
stable even with the lack of growth cover. Only minor rills were noted.
A small amount of processed stockpile material was noted along the South
West part of the permit area. The pit floor was dry, a small screen and
front-end loader were noted along the south and east side of the pit area.
The county has its own noxious weed control plan a very small amount of
Tamarisk was noted along the South West side of the pre- law disturbed
area. Operator stated that they would implement the mechanical removal of
the tamarisk in the near future. The density of the Tamarisk is with in the
allowable concentration of the DMG'S Noxious weed guideline and will not be
sited as a PB (Possible Problem7. In addition the county has its own
noxious weed control plan. The site appeared to be in compliance with the
MLRD Rules and Regulations.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: MR DAVID RAGSDALE
OPERATOR: CROWLEY COUNTY Harry Posey (e-mail)
STREET: t to F ,s1H CTRFFr cc: r CE
Att"overburden/topsoil
CITY/STATE/ZIP: ~RnwnY c~Rtn~s r BL
r FS
r HW
r HMWMD (CH)
CC:
