III. COMMENTS • COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspectron. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the rnspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken durng the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of Minerals
and Geology. This former underground mine was reclaimed and reseeded in 1996 and early
1997. A Phase I inspection and informal conference scheduled for this day at the NW-1
vent shall was cancelled due to poor ground conditions caused by a snowstorm on April 10r".
Ground conditions on this day were muddy due to the storm. However, the weather on this
day was dear and sunny.
Signs and Markers
The entry sign had slid down the pole. It was re-attached with wire but may need additional
support for long-term stability. Disturbed area markers remain generally unaffected with only
a few noted as knocked over due to cattle or wildlife. Opportunities to enter the fenced area
of reclamation exist near the reclaimed areas of ponds 3 and 4 and at the east and west
ends of the main facility reclaimed area on the railroad ROW
Revegetation
Vegetation is coming on for
the season, although
continued cool weather has
kept growth limited. Some '
rosettes of scotch thistle ''
were noted, especially in the •
` ~
~'
~
pond 2 reclaimed area (see _ `
~ : `
photo).
