III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection, Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Twin Pines Mine conducted by Jim Stark of CDMG.
The bond for this site was forteited after reclamation was completed. The weather
was warm and sunny and the ground was dry.
The coal sales/tipple area was well vegetated and in good condition. There was
some new growth but it has been slowed by the dry winter and spring the area
experienced. Cattle had recently been grazing on the site but it was still in good
condition. The remaining pond was almost dry at the time of the inspection. The
road to this site is a county road.
The portal area was well vegetated and in good condition. The vegetation at this
site appears to be growing better than that at the coal sales/tipple area. The
remaining pond was dry at the time of the inspection. The remaining highwall
appeared to be stable.
Overall, both areas were in good condition.
