In this Inspection Report, the
Division has specified a Corrective Action relative to timely completion of reclamation at the
Great Hesper site. The Corrective Action for the Great Hesper site requires submittal of a
schedule For completion of reclamation, and such schedule is required to be submitted by
October 11, 2002.
IUSA has re-scheduled current ongoing maintenance and reclamation activities at a number of
mine sites in the Colorado Plateau area, and will therefore schedule the required reclamation
work to be conducted at the Great Hesper this season. Current plans are to mobilize into this
area early in the week of October 14, if weather and ground conditions permit. Although we
anticipate that all site work will be completed within about two weeks of entering The work area,
the completion of site work will of course depend on local weather and ground conditions, as we
hope to minimize disturbance to past reclamation and areas of natural revegetation. We will
submit afollow-up report after our fieldwork is completed. I am also planning to submit a new
site map following the reclamation work; this updated map will be based on actual ground
surveys and will show where reclamation work has been conducted.
I want to note my appreciation for your efforts in helping sort out all of the confusion,
incomplete information, and conflicting records for the Monogram area. This has been a
challenging task given the degree of historical activity throughout this area.
Sincerely,
~~~
Terry V.
