(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-i a8n-nm
INSPECTION DATE: i/3/n3 INSPECTOR=S INII"IALS: TAS
OBSERVATIONS
1. A site inspection of the Tucker Aggregate Pit (Carr Pit) was made as part of the Division's 4-year inspection program.
Present during the inspection was Brad Janes of Varra Companies, Inc. The site is located 2.5 northwest of Carr.
2. The Tucker Aggregate Pit is permitted for a total of 220 acres. The mining plan specifies open pit, dry mining methods.
The affected land will be reclaimed to grazing use. Slopes will be graded to a maximum steepness of 2:1, topsoiled with
a topsoil cover of at least 6", and revegetated with a dryland grass mix. The operator has posted a financial warranty of
$131,400. The Division finds this financial warranty to be adequate to complete reclamation of the disturbances noted
below in Item 3.
3. The Tucker Pit is intermittently active with removal of stockpiled materials. There has been little or no excavation of
aggregate materials during the past four (4) years. Current disturbances include a 6-8 acre pit ranging in depth from 6'-
8' with side slopes at a 2:1 configuration, 4-5 acres of upland water diversion, 2-5 acres of moderate disturbance, and
plant, processing, and stockpile area spread out over a 10-12 acre area. All disturbances were found to be within the 220
acre permitted area. The pit floor is stable with a cover of fine textured gravel. This, inspedor noted a stockpile of
topsoil/overburden material approximately 38,700 cubic yards in size.
4. An entrance sign and affected land boundary markers were noted as required by Rule 3.1.12.
5. No noxious or pest weeds were noted. There were patches of "volunteer" growth of native prairie grasses in portions
of the affected land. This is encouraging given the prevalence of high velocity winds at the site.
6. Overall, the Tucker Pit is a clean pit with minimal disturbance. No problems were noted.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Christopher L. Varra
OPERATOR: Varra Companies.
