(Page 2)
MINH ID # OR PROSPHCTING ID # M-95-034
INSPECTION DATE ~0-~1~~97 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS~$.
OBSERVATIONS
This was a complete inspection of the Bachus pit located approximately 3 miles southwest of
Alamosa. The site is permitted to disturb 9 acres for excavation of borrow material. The
permit stipulates that no more than 3 acres can be disturbed at any one time.
The site currently has 3 acres stripped of vegetation with topsoil stockpiled in a berm along
the south and east sides of the disturbed area. The top of the topsoil stockpile has been
used for access around the pit. This activity must stop due to the compaction problems it
can cause. The stockpile has been in place for over one year and needs to be seeded with a
temporary seed mix to stabilize the pile against erosion and weed infestation. Since the
pile has been somewhat compacted, it is recommended that the pile surface be harrowed or
dieted prior to seeding to loosen the seed bed. This temporary seed mix application process
will need to be detailed in a report to the Division.
No wind erosion problems were evident during this inspection. Some water erosion of the
excavated pit walls is occurring, but the sediment deposits in the bottom of the incised pit.
The reclamation plan for the exterior pit walls may require a revision to add some type of
erosion control during vegetation establishment to prevent this type of water erosion at that
time.
A mine identification sign was not observed during this inspection. Please provide photo
documentation that a mine identification sign, in compliance with Rule 3.1.12 is in place at
the access to the pit.
No weeds were observed on the disturbed areas of the site.
NAME
OPERATOR
STREET
CZTY/STATE/ZIP
9042 So. 106 Rd.
Alamosa.
