III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Coal Ridge Mine conducted by Harry Ranney of DMG. No
company representative was present during the inspection. The Coal Ridge Mine is in reclamation
only status. Weather conditions on site were clear and warm.
Roads The road leading into the Coal Ridge Mine was in good condition with only minor erosion
evident.
Hydrologic Balance The sediment pond had approximately 18-24 inches of water in each cell but
no recent discharge was noted. Only minor erosion was noted on site which is due to the relatively
good stand of vegetation.
Reclamation Success As noted above, the vegetation is doing quite well but their are patches of
weeds that sould be sprayed before infestation becomes a problem. These weeds include field bind
weed, hounds lounge, and some annual thistles. No recent signs of cattle grazing was noted.
