III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection flown on October 30, 2001 by Harry Ranney of the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology. Kent Gorham of CDMG reviewed oblique
aerial photos in the office on November 5, 2001. The weather on this day was
conducive for good photography. This former underground mine is now reclaimed.
The mine has achieved a Phase II bond release for the majority of the disturbed
area.
Reclamation Success
Numerous photographs clearly showed the reclaimed areas of the mine. One photo it
particular best represented the success of the reclamation efforts. In the photo,
it is difficult to distinguish the reclaimed area from surrounding undisturbed
lands.
Soil Methane Area
Another small circular area slightly southwest of the intersection of the entry
road and the railroad tracks was noted on three of the aerial photographs taken.
3
