The operator has recently amended the
permit to create a new haul road which will connect the operation with the processing plant
located to the south. Currently, haul trucks must travel along Highway 287 to deliver
limestone from the Roberts Quarry to the processing plant. The new haul road will eliminate
the need for trucks to travel the highway. The route takes advantage of the topography so
that most of the truck traffic will not be visible from Highway 287.
A dozer operator was working in the pit during this inspection, removing and stockpiling
topsoil from a new area to be opened up. The operator is reminded that, due to the scarcity
of topsoil in this area, every effort must be made to remove and stockp~.le any topsoil
encountered during the mining operation.
No problems were observed.
I S E Contact Address
^ CE
NAME Nathan Barton ^ BL
OPERATOR Pete Lien & Sons.
