The general area was traversed to determine if other features similar to this one exist, No
other features were found within about a two hundred foot radius of this crater. The group
discussed subsidence as a possible cause and reviewed a map of the Southfield
underground workings brought by Mr Weaver It seems unlikely, due to the depth and
shape of this crater, that subsidence alone is responsible. Given the amount of material that
has move, piping or significant movement of materials below seems likely. Recent rains of
up to two inches are likely to have exacerbated the development of the crater. EFMC
planned to repair the crater immediately once equipment could be mobilized. The inspector
suggested fencing the feature to prevent human or animal access, should repair be delayed,
in accordance with Rule 4.07.2.
~~~
f.
-'~ ~ 30 ~ 4~~'~f
Other than the crater feature on the refuse pile, the site appeared m good condition for the
early Spring season.
