III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of
observations made during the inspection. Comments also describe ary
enforcement actions taken during the inspectic~ and the facts or evidence
supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology. This former, contour
strip operation is bond revoked. Inspection frequency is quarterly,
with one complete inspection each year. Ground conditions on this
day were dry and the weather was warm.
Roads
The steep section of the road leading south into Section 22 was
found in good condition with no evidence of rutting or damage.
Hydrologic 9alance
The inspection concentrated on the western portion of the reclaimed
area north of the county toad. Two ponds, 15-P20 and 15-P8, are
located in this portion of reclamation. Both ponds inspected were
holding significant volumes of water. Evidence suggested a rainfall
event within the recent past.
The repaired portion of the ditch north and east of reclaimed pond
i5-P1 was inspected along the lower riprap section. Some movement
of riprap in the lowest check dam has occurred from storm runoff.
Howeve:•, in general, the ditch seems to be functioning as designed.
