ORIGINAL -PUBLIC FILE
(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: nn-I es;n_~ae
INSPECTION DATE: 5/19/05 INSPECTORCS INITIALS: ~~
OBSERVATION
The Division conducted a bi monthly monitoring inspection of the site on
4/28/05. Te inspection began around the old Iron Clad Mill tailings area,
where CC&V plans to under take the reclamation of the old mill tailings
this summer. CC&V wanted to know if portions of these tailings are pushed
in the lined area of the old Iron Clad Globe Hill pads. Since these old
leach pads had already under gone detoxification, which included the
experimental BIO detoxification as, approved by DMG. DMG does not see a
problem in placing a portion of the mill tailings onto the lined pad area.
Continued the inspection to the base of the Squaw Gulch waste
rock/overburden storage area. As noted in the last inspection, CC&V
wanted to place a storm water management pond to replace the upper ponds,
in anticipation of the waste rock area expansion as approved in Amendment #
8. The 5 acre pond is going to be incised and all the calculations will be
based using the same parameters as approved in Amendment # 8.Top soil was
being removed in the area where the pond will be placed at the time of the
inspection. Golder and associates will certify the as built pond, once the
pond is constructed. Mark Tiduist, the in house engineer has calculated all
the inputs for the pond and will provide a copy once completed. DMG wants
the calculations to be submitted as an attachment to the TR that will be
submitted for the East Cresson area Haul Road and final configuration of
the backfill for the pit. Inspected the Phase I, II, II AND IV leach pad
area from the top of the pad along the west side, no ponded water or
solution on the pad was noted.
Inspected the Main Cresson area, it was not active at the time of
Inspected the phase I, II, III AND IV leach pad areas and collected the
following readings from the Hhigh and Low volume solution collection
transducers.
Phase I high Volume Solution Collection transducer # 2 was recorded at 30.4
and # 3 was at 29.7. Low volume transducer # 1 was recorded at .09 and # 2
was at .52. Piezometer for the pond was at 34.0 feet.
Phase II and III high Volume Solution Collection Transducer # 4 was at 37.7
# 5 was at 39.3 and # 6 was at 39.4. Low volume transducer # 1 was at .14
and # 2 was at.28. While in the area,
collected the following readings from the low volume solution collection
transducers. # 1 was recorded at 12.2 and # 2 was at 9.9 inches of
hydrostatic head. (All other readings are in feet of hydrostatic head
unless noted otherwise noted)
Inspected the under drain discharge area, all three ponds were still
holding some water. The lower surface water diversion ponds were dry. Both
