III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />On the twenty first of August, 1997, William J. Carter from the Division of Minerals and Geology <br />performed a partial inspection of the Ohio Creek # 2 Mine in Gunnison County.This is a revoked mine <br />and therefore no company representative was present. The weather was clear and warm during this <br />inspection. <br />Hydrologic Balance: <br />The sedimentation pond and all of the ditches were dry at the time of this inspection. <br />Revegetation: <br />The revegetation is progressing as would be expected. As noted on the last inspection report, more <br />seedlings appeaz to be germinating as the summer progresses. <br />Slides and Damaee: <br />Additional correction of some small rills and contours was accomplished by the inspector. <br />Others• <br />• One small patch of Canada thistles (Cirsium arvense) was found at the site and removed. <br />• Both Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense) and Russian knapweed (Centaurea repens) were <br />identified along the Gunnison County road. This was reported to the County Weed Coordinator <br />at a later date. <br />
