III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the North Thompson Creek Mine conducted by Erica Crosby of
DMG. No company representative was present during the inspection. The North Thompson
Creek Mine is in reclamation only status. The inspection involved viewing three aerial
photographs taken by Harry Ranney of DMG on March 26, 1998. Snow cover was noted on
site, at an estimated depth of 1-2 feet.
oad The road leading into the site was under snow cover, and did not appear accessible via
automobile.
Hydrologic Balance The long pond and treatment ponds IT-1 and T-21 contained water. The
pond embankments appear stable. The sediment pond appeared to have some water, which is
most likely frozen. The water level is well below the spillways.
Backfillinq & Grading The backfilled refuse and facility areas were under snow cover, but
appeared stable. No major erosion features were noted.
