Dep?. of ?!aiure: "osc~irc°~
Re Inspection Report, Reclamation Pit #l, MLR File No. 77-153
This letter responds to the recommendations that accompanied your
December 14, 1981 Inspection Report. The numbering system corres-
ponds to your list of recommendations.
1• A Technical Revision will be submitted in January 1982.
2. On December 23, 1981 we telephoned 67r. Paul Meale, State Water
Commissioner for District 1. He advised there are no water
rights in or to Bull Seep (Ditch).
3. The amount of topsoil needed was overestimated originally. Of
course, all this changed with the first technical revision. It
is expected that 8 to 12 inches of soil will be respread on the
area to be revegetated. According to our estimates, 22. 7f acres
will be revegetated. The total soil required calculates to be
between 24,400 and 36,600 cubic yards. We plan to preserve
35,000 cubic yards. Designated stockpiles, which will receive
appropriate care, will continue to be located along the peri-
meter areas. Approximately 130,.000 yards of material stockpiled
at the west end may or may not be adequate for recoiling. We
contend it is adequate. Tests are being performed to determine
the usefulness of the material. We will keep you advised. In
any case, at least 35,000 cubic yards of topsoil will be retained
on site so that the required topsoiling can be accomplished.
4. Thank you. In 1982, prior to the time when the weed crop drops
seeds, the area will be mowed very carefully so as not to injure
the trees.
5. We tend to concur for our own reasons. However, we would appre-
ciate a full explanation of your reasoning.
6. We understand the purpose of this recommendation and will give
the idea careful consideration.
7. We believe these inspections can prove beneficial to all. We
particularly appreciate being permitted to invite some of our
key people to participate with you.
Yours truly,
G~~ ~" 4'J ~~ t
Albert R.
