An anonymous complaint was received by the Division of Minerals and Geology of possible illegal mining activity off of <br />US40 at mile marker 123, west of Steamboat Springs. <br />2. Carl Mount and Kate Pickford responded to the location to investigate. A locked gate off of US 40 blocked access to the <br />site. The site was observed from the shoulder of US40 on an embankment overlooking the site. No activity was observed at <br />the time of the site investigation. Three photos were taken during the investigation. <br />3. The site was determined to be the old Bear River Sand and Gravel Pit.
