(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1977--~n7
INSPECTION DATE: na/name INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: TGS
OBSERVATIONS
1. A site inspection of the Owl Canyon Quarry was made as part of the Division's on-going 4-year inspection program.
Present during the inspection was Mike Golliher.
2. The Owl Canyon Quarry is an active site with mining activities progressing from south to north in the western portion of
the quarry. There are approximately 100 disturbed acres and 15 acres under reclamation. There are also 7.73 fully
reclaimed acres that were released from reclamation responsibility on May 15, 2002. The operator is doing a
commendable job of contemporaneous reclamation. Reclamation activities including backfill and grading with overburden
materials, placement of beet dirt and soil materials, and revegetation with a dry land grass mix is in progress along
various portions of the western rim of the quarry. All non-roadable mining equipment has been removed from the quarry
area and is now stored in the equipment boneyard near the shop and quarry office. There are a total of 161.5 permitted
acres with a maximum allowable disturbance of 106.48 acres. The operator has posted a financial warranty of $522,000
to complete reclamation of the 106.48 disturbed acres. The quarry is being reclaimed to wildlife habitat. Under the terms
of the approved reclamation plan, quarry will slopes will be reclaimed as follows: cliffs & highwalls (10%), canyon areas
(15%), 2:1 slopes (30%), and 4:1 slopes (45%). This inspector finds that the financial warranty is adequate to complete
reclamation of the disturbances noted above.
3. Signs and markers were posted as required by Rule 3.1.12. The operator has done an outstanding job of marking the
boundaries of the affected land.
4. No problems or concerns were noted.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Rob Kisner
OPERATOR: Colorado Lien Company
STREET: PO Box 1961
C1TY(STATE/ZIP: Fnrt Collins, C(] R(T775-1961
cc: Carl Mount, DMG (via E-mail)
