Thurston:
t~~NrVER
Ae you may recall, the Division's January 31, 1995 inspection repot
Weaselakin gravel operation in La Plata County indicated that the
Warranty for the operation would be recalculated per the wishes of
Land Reclamation Board as part of the general statewide bond recalcula
directed at all permitted 110(2) type mining operations. The bond rep
is in response to the lifting of the 55000.00 bond cap, for 110(2} type c
which resulted from the 1991 passage of Senate Bill 91-177.
Enclosed is a preliminary cast estimate for the operation based on a
the original permit application and any subsequent correspondence or
to the permit. The condition of the site, at the time of the last inspe
also taken into consideration. As you can see from the attached calcu
appears that the site is substantially under-bonded at the pre.
of cots
•e0
~ /896 ~
Roy Romer
Governor
Michael B. Due to the lack of an acc rate, up
to date scale map of the operations disturbed areas, plus the dist rbances
outside the permit boundaries, quantities used in the calculations ar largely
based on visual estimates taken from photographs of the site ae it app ared on
January 31, 1995. The original permit text is also quite vague and in omplete.
Clarification of, and detailed information (including topographic apping)
describing the proposed reclamation methodology for the Weaselski gravel
operation would be of great benefit in producing more accurate coat fig res and
significantly lowering tyhe calculated reclamation estimate amount.
