(Page 2) MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-2005-061 INSPECTION DATE 12-21-2005 OBSERVATIONS This was apre-operational inspection of the proposed 20 Road Gravel Pit site. INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS The site was previously somewhat leveled with fill material in the south end with a depth up to what appears to be several feet. The leveled area was reportedly used as an auto salvage yard many years ago. The applicant will need to watch for soil contaminated with hazardous materials that may heave been dumped during the salvage yard years. Any contaminated material will need to be properly decontaminated and/or disposed of to ensure it is not placed where it can contaminate the proposed post mine lake, surface water, or groundwater. The soils appear to be highly erodible and will need to be protected from erosion on steep slopes and proposed discharge conveyances. Vegetation is sparse and weedy, composed primarily of annual weeds and salt tolerant shrubs shadscale and greasewood. One additional culvert under I-70 was noted that was not identified in the permit application. The applicant was instructed to include this culvert in the application and to do an additional search for other structures that may have been missed in the permit exhibits. No other structures were noted that were not included in the permit application except a small pond on the adjacent lot along the southeast corner of the permit. No utilities were noted other than those currently identified in the permit application.
