(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1983-187
INSPECTION DATE 3-04-2005
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRS
This was a general monitoring inspection of the Kues Pit conducted by Gregg
Squire of the Division of Minerals and Geology. The Logan County Planning
Department was notified but was not present during the inspection.
Access to the pit is made by going north off U.S. 6 on County Road 67.
There are two Permit I,D. signs on the east side of C.R. 67, M-1983-187 and
M1978-189. On 1-14-2002, M-1983-187 was converted from a 110 c permit to a
112 c permit and M-1978-189 was incorporated into M-1983-187. At that time
M-1978-189 was terminated. The permit boundaries could be located either
by markers, fence lines, roads or other landmarks.
This is a large (50 acre) site which is currently being mined to the east.
There are large topsoil stockpiles on the west floor of the pit and above
the pit floor on the SE portion of the site. The pit high walls on
portions of the south and northwest areas have been sloped to 3H:1V. It
was noted that there are numerous one to two foot deep gullies on these
slopes. This erosion might be reduced if some diversion ditches were cut
above the cuts to divert the surface flow around the cuts. This erosion is
not considered a problem at this time, but will have to be corrected prior
to a permit release.
I & S Contact Address
j' CE
NAME Mr. Byron Hickox- County Planner r BL
OPERATOR Logan County Planning and Zoning
STREET 315 Main St. Suite 2 j' HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Sterling, CO 80751
j' FS
j' HMWMD (CH)
j' SE
r wQCD (cx)
