III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection .. .
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
Drill Sites
Before winter sets in, an inspection was made of representative drill sites above the
Bowie No. 2 Mine. The Freeman Gulch road was in very good condition. There were two
sets of gates along the road and both gates were locked. Mine ID signs were present, as
were surface disturbance mazkers.
At the site mazked asGVB-3B, the vent pipe projected about 1 foot above the ground and
was capped. The azea immediately aoound the pipe was fenced in and graveled. The rest
of the azea was grassed.
At site GVB D4-B, most of the reclamation has been fmished. The area was graded,
mulched and netted. There was a modest stand of vegetative cover. Silt fence was up. The
operator still needs to mazk the borehole pipe location.
Reclamation at site GVB DS-D is also nearly fmished. The azea has been graded,
mulched and netted. Silt fence was properly installed. There is a moderate cover of
vegetation. The hole location still needs to be marked.
Site GVB D2-C was being reclaimed, as well. The borehole pipe was above ground. The
site had been graded, mulched and covered. The grass was growing on the reclaimed site.
The pipe location still needs to be mazked.
Another site in the process of reclamation was for GVB D2-B(?). The azea was graded,
mulched and netted. There was a moderate stand of vegetation. The pipe location still has
to be mazked.
The final site that was visited was for GVB 3-C. This site is unreclaimed. The topsoil
stockpile was protected by silt fence. The topsoil stockpile sign was up. Silt fence was up
aoound the drill.site. The azea around the pipe was surrounded by fence.
c: /word/bowie2/insp 1003
