One gully was observed uphill of the Upper Pond, in the location shown on the attached
map. The gully was paced off at approximately 100 feet in length, and varied in depth up
to approximately 10 inches. Small sections of the gully did have grass coming in the bottom,
but it appeared the gully was still actively downcutting. The gully should be repaired
immediately to prevent further erosion. Areas which were exhibited rills and gullies last
yeaz had begun to heal, most of them were sprouting new grass in the bottoms.
Revegetation on the reclaimed lateral ditches is progressing well. With the exception of the
lowest three ditches and the northwest ditch, vegetation cover is about 20-25%. There were
no signs of erosion on any of the reclaimed ditches.
Meadows No. 1 Mine 2 July 3, 1996
