MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1 aRn-2aa
INSPECTION DATE: a-la-nn INSPECTORS INITIALS: ___Bl~-
OBSERVATIONS
The Division conducted a partial financial warranty release inspection of the site on 9-14-00.Operator was
contacted and was in the area but was unable to attend. However, the landowner Mr. Louis Chantala was
on site and had a brief discussion about the release request. The site is 640 acres sand and gravel operation
located approximately 5 miles south east of Pueblo Colorado. However, the operator since 1996 has been
reporting the acreage to be 202 acres. Our records indicate, in 1992, because of a Board Order, the site
was amended to increase the acreage from 202 acres to 640 acres. There is nothing in our record that
indicates the release of 458 acres. On ]uly 21, 2000, the operator submitted a partial financial warranty
release for 160 acres, which would leave 42 acres if the permitted acreage were 202 acres. The area
requested for release was driven and inspected and found to be inadequately vegetated and the request for
release is denied at this time. The operator in the release request had attached the inspection request of
10-14-99. In that report, the Division had stated that the site had been reclaimed and no major signs of
erosion features noted, but it did not say it was adequately vegetated and ready for release. Even the
pictures supplied with the release request show the area to be poorly vegetated. The original permit
application states, the pit floor will have original overburden redistributed on it then seeded with native
seeds. Please consult your local soil conservation district to find out the appropriate native seed mixes for
the site.
Since there appears to some confusion as to the actual permit acreage, the Division requests the operator
to survey the area and provide the appropriate permit acreage map by i1-20-00.
I & E Contat Address
NAME: Eric Reckentine
OPERATOR: Lafarge Corgi
STREET: 1590 W.12T" AVE.
CITY/SPATE/ZIP: Denver,CO.R0204
James Stevens
cc: ^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
^ OTHER
(`er--i'~'~eol z ~~ X33 X11(
