III. Comments -Compliance
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of
observations made during the inspection, comments also describe any
enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence
supporting the enforcement action.
On March 12, 1992 the Division conduced a complete inspection at the Bourg Strip
Mine. During this inspection a representative from the mine was not present. The
Bourg Strip is in permanent closure. The area is completely revegetated. No
ponds are on site.
The weather was warm and sunny. Snow covered 80% of the ground and only
small areas on south facing slopes were clear. The access road to the mine was
accessible by vehicle.
The entire mine permit boundary was walked. The permit boundary was marked
with a fence and was signed in areas.
The shallow ephemeral drainage running north to south through the western
portion of the permit area was vegetated. And in areas clear of snow, did not
appear to contain sediment from the recla, med areas.
Because of the snow and limited mobility, detailed observations could not be
made. The mine permit boundary entrance was adequately marked with a sign.
The previous location of the mine office was inspected and no problems were
notetl. A metal pipe structure was noted here.
The records were checked at the County Courthouse and were found to be in
order.
No problems were noted as a result of this inspection.
