- _ • ~ <br />EXHIBIT D (Cont'd) <br />is higher in elevation than the normal flood line and would <br />be mined with 3:1 slopes, creating an extension of the lake <br />now existing on land adjoining the affected lands (see map, <br />Exhibit C-1). Both Stages 2 and 3 are minor operations, <br />ranging from 15,000 to 20,000 tons of material in Stage 2 and <br />13,000 to 18,000 tons of material in Stage 3. Stage 1 is <br />the main .pit area, and it is not the intent of Delta Sand & <br />Gravel Co. to mine Stages.2 and 3 unless it becomes absolutely <br />necessary. <br />A timetable for this pit is very difficult. The pit will <br />be operated as long as aggregate is required in the Paonia <br />area. An estimate of 20 to 30 years would not be unreasonable. <br />The ability of the North Fork to replenish the material each <br />spring is the key to the life of this small operation. <br />7 <br />
