No compliance issues were observed during the
overfight. The digital images were inspected by Joe Dudash of the Colorado Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety on January 18, 2007.
West Mine
Except for a small area on the upper part of the disturbed area to the west, the rest of the site was
covered in snow. The entrance road leading to the site from the Steven's Gulch road was covered in
snow.
There were no signs of slope instability with the backfilled and graded areas. Although both of the
sediment ponds were covered in snow, the pond embankments appeared to be stable.
Run-of--Mine (ROM) Stockpile
The entrance haul road and the entire stockpile area were covered in snow. The collection ditches
leading into the sediment pond appeazed to have capacity. The pond was snow covered but no
problems were noted with the pond embankment. The stockpile area itself appeared to be stable, with
no signs of slope instability.
East Mine
This site was also snow covered. The haul road, access road and light use roads were covered in snow
but at least the haul and access roads appeared to be passable.
There were no indications of slope instability with any of the benches' cut and fill slopes. The west
ridge waste pile and old waste pile, although snow covered, also appeared to be stable.
The sediment ponds were snow covered but there were no indications of any stability problems with
the embankments.
c:/word bowie I /insp0107
