• (Page 2) •
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-94-093
INSPECTION DATE_February 24, 1998 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS _TAS
OBSERVATIONS
1. A site inspection was conducted of the Dahlia North Resources Pit. Curtt Coppage of CAMAS
America, Inc. representing the operator was present during the inspection.
2. The Dahlia North Resources Pit is permitted for 190.6 acres of disturbance. A financial
warranty of $744,000 has been provided by the operator and is based upon reclamation of the
entire permit area. The post-mining land use is designated as developed water resources.
The Division will be calculating a current reclamation cost for the existing disturbance
within the next 60 days to determine the adequacy of the financial warranty.
3. A majority of the permit area is currently disturbed, all within the permit boundary and
in conformance with the mine plan. The pit was being dewatered at the time of inspection and
the discharge released to the South Platte River in conformance with an NPDES permit issued
by the Colorado Department of Health. Mr. Coppage indicated that a second slurry wall has
been installed per requirements of the mine plan.
4. Signs and markers were posted as required by Rule 3.1.12.
5. Approximately 5 acres near the site entrance have been partially reclaimed, ie: slopes
graded and seeded, filled with water. Mr. Coppage explained that the operator has a
temporary substitute supply plan to account for evaporative loss during the mining phase of
the operation. An augmentation plan has not yet been secured, but should be provided by the
City of Thornton prior to final reclamation of the entire site.
6. Available topsoil was being salvaged and stockpiled in conformance with the requirements
of the mine plan.
I & E Contact Address
^ CE
NAME Curti Coppage ^ BL
OPERATOR CAMAS America Inc. ^ FS
STREET 3609 S Wadsworth Blvd., Suite 300 ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Lakewood.
