r_
III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Chimney Rock Mine for the month of August, 2000.
RECORDS: Records were inspected and found to be satisfactory. See page 5 of this report for further
details.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: All ponds have been removed and final drainages have been established..
The double culverts that pass under the access road to the top of the east pit has plugged up and as a
result, water over-topped the road and deposited sediment onto the alfalfa field. THE SIGNIFICANCE
OF THIS EROSION IS NOT GREAT BUT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED ALTOGETHER IF REGULAR
VISITS TO THE SITE OR READING AND ACTING ON THESE INSPECTION REPORTS WERE
ACCOMPLISHED.
GENERAL MINE COMPLIANCE: The condition of the mine is satisfactory with the exception of the East
Pit road which requires the bar ditches and roadside ditch to be repaired and/or re-established.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS: The vegetation throughout the site is dry but stable.
