Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made dunng <br />the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken duhng the inspection and the <br />facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was an aerial inspection of the King Coal Mine for the month of May, 2003. The weather conditions <br />at the tirne of the inspection were partly cloudy and windy. <br />ROADS: 'r: gads are well maintained. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: Both ponds have water in them but neither were discharging. All ditches <br />appear to be clean and capable of functioning as designed. <br />GENERAL MINE COMPLIANCE: The site is well maintained and stable. No problems were noted during <br />the flight. <br />EXCESS SPOILS AND DEVELOPMENT WASTE: The waste pile is stable and all water appears to be <br />diverted off the top and into ditches. The expansion of ilia pile up hill will need the underdrain exposed <br />and extended to insure all portions of the pile meets state and federal guidelines. <br />
