Conditions
on site have not changed since the August 20, 1998 inspection. The Lyons Quarry is a 112 operation,
permitted to affect 54 acres. The aggregate being mined is quartz monzonite. The mine consists of a
160-foot highwall, overburden piles, topsoil piles, an office and shop facility. Copies of the
photographs can be obtained from the Division of Minerals and Geology.
Three concerns noted in the August 20, 1998 inspection remain outstanding;
1. The operator needs to vegetate the topsoil piles and address the weed problem in accordance with the
approved weed management plan. Evidence of weed control needs to be submitted to the Division by
November 30, 1998.
2. Permit boundary markers could not be located in the field. The operator needs to install the
boundary markers, and provide the Division with photographs by November 30, 1998.
3. The operator will need to submit additional financial warranty in the amount of $93,400.00 as noted
in the Division's September 2, 1998 letter. The additional financial warranty must also be submitted
by November 30, 1998.
I & E Contact Address
~ CE
NAME Mr. Norm Roche ~ BL
OPERATOR Golden's Andesite Mining Co. ~ FS
STREET 21 South Sunset Street ~ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Longmont, CO 80501 [] HMWMD (CH}
~ SE
~ WQCD (CH)
~ OTHER:
cc: Carl Mount; DMG
CERTIFIED MAIL
