Ms. Jamie Gaboriau • •
April /7, 2002
approximately 1500 feet from the northern property boundary of the pit. All of these wells have
been completed in the alluvium and are considered "shallow" wells.
MONITOR WELL DATA
Since June of 2001, Aggregate has been collecting monthly water levels at three monitor wells
adjacent to the site. In review of this information, the data indicates a gradual decline in water
levels, with a maximum total decline of 11.5 Feet at Well #1 from original conditions in 2001
through April 5, 2002. Specifics regarding monitor well construction and installation with
regard to pumping from the site are not known at this time.
OTHER OBSERVAT[ONS
A general site review was conducted on April 10, 2001. Prior to this site review, general
information regarding land ownership in the area was determined based on Weld County
Assessor's Map #1471 for Sections 29, 30, 31, and 32, all Township 1 North, Range 66 West. In
Section 30, two parcels owned by Mr. Brancucci were identified in the N %z of the NE ''/a, and in
the NE '/< of the SE '/< of the section. Several wells were observed just west of WCR 27; none of
these wells were observed to be pumping. However, a well located just north of WCR 4 and
west of WCR 27 was observed to be pumping. The ownership of the pazcel on which the well is
located was not identified. Water from the well was being dischazged into an open earthen ditch
that ran along the northern boundary of two other separate parcels identified as Elms and Case.
Flow or other related measurements were not taken at the well.
A ditch lateral was noted carrying water along WCR 27 delivering water to the north. One of
Mr. Brancucci's wells is located just west of this ditch neaz the intersection of WCR 6 and 27.
Additionally, two other ditches were observed east of WCR 27 one of which is believed to be the
main Fulton Ditch. Both of these ditches were carrying water at the time.
The ski lake located immediately east of HWY 85 and east of the pit was also observed. Water
was observed in the lake; however, the level appeared to be somewhat less than the high water
mark on the banks. No measurements were taken at the ski lake. Also, several area ponds were
observed east of WCR 27 along WCR 4. The water level in al] of these ponds appeared to be
less than the high water mazk.
SUMMARY
An in-depth ground water analysis has not been completed for this area to determine the
potential affects of dewatering at the Platte Valley Pit. However, based on the available
information, a preliminary assessment has been determined as follows:
• 'Data available from the three Aggregate monitor wells indicates that the ground water
table has declined by as much as 11.5 feet. Since these wells are located immediately
adjacent to the pit, it is anticipated that. this draw down is probably a direct result of the
dewatering operations.
• The draw down in the water table may extend out from the pit. However, the draw
down at a location approximately 0.25 miles from the pit is anticipated to be
considerably less than the 11.5 draw down noted at the pit based on information
