(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING TD # M-2000-037
INSPECTION DATE 6/30/04
INSPECTOR'S SNITIALS ESC
This was an inspection of the Baxter Pass Pit conducted by Erica Crosby and Carl Mount of
the Division of Minerals and Geology. Stan Rasamussen of Rio Blanco County was present
during the inspection.
The Bite is located 33 miles south of Rangely in Rio Blanco County, Colorado. ~An 110c
permit was issued on May 10, 2000. The pit is located in a remote area, and the gravel
extracted from the site is used to serve the needs of Rio Blanco County Road and Bridge in
road repair and surfacing. Amine identification sign was posted at the entrance to the
site, and permit boundary markers were identified.
No mining was taking place during the inspection. According to the operator the site has
not been mined for 4 years due to the remote location. Mining is occurring into the
mountainside and heading west. Shrub and Trees will not be removed from the undisturbed
areas until mining is necessary. There is approximately 1 acre of disturbance out of the
7.6 permit area. A high-pressure gas line exists along County Road 25. Mining does not
appear to interfere with this gas line. No problems were noted during this inspection.
I & 8 Contact Address
^ CE
NAME Jerry Steele ^ BL
OPERATOR Rio Blanco County ^ FS
STREET 570 2vd Street ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Meeker, CO 81641 ^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
Cc: Carl Mount; DMG (via a-mail)
