• (Page 2)
MINE SD # OR PROSPECTING ID #
INSPECTION DATE 4-29-97
M-80-037
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GSC
This was a Follow-up inspection to review the status of corrective actions required in the
Division's inspection of 12-9-96. The inspection was conducted with Mr. Jim Striggow.
During the 12-9-96 inspection, the operator was required to post an entrance sign and
boundary markers and submit photographic verification (PB-1). The Division received
photographic verification on 1-19-97. This inspection was conducted to verify that the
current quarry activity is within the permit boundaries. The permit area is the irregular
boot shaped area identified as AFFECTED AREA in the ownership survey map included in
Amendment AM-001.
The permit boundaries have been adequately marked along the south, east and northern sides
with metal fence posts. The permit boundary on the west consists of a vertical escarpment
along the hogback ridge. The current pit is inside the permit boundaries. It was not active
during this inspection and there was no mine related equipment on-site. Problem PB-1 is
considered abated. No other problems were identified.
The entire hog-back ridge has been scoured with old pre-law quarrying activities. These
areas generally have self-revegetated to some extent and are easy to differentiate from the
active quarry. A quarry operated in the 1950's is located in the northern part of the permit
area and extends to the north outside the permit area. This is also pre-law disturbance but
looks newer than the other pre-law disturbance. The quarry to the north still is older
looking than the active pit and should not be confused with the recent disturbance.
As a reminder, the mining and reclamation plans require that all process fines are to be
salvaged for replacement as growth medium during reclamation.
I & E Contact Address cc: Carl Mount, DMG
^ CE
NAME Russell C.
