The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the (acts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of Minerals
and Geology (DMG) This mine has closed and reclamation of most areas is complete.
Ground conditions were dry and the weather was unseasonably mild. I met with George
Patterson of Energy Fuels Mining Company briefly at the conclusion of the inspection.
Hydrologic Balance
The two remaining sediment ponds at the mine site continue to be dry. No evidence of
significant runoff was noted anywhere on the site.
Processing Waste
The refuse pile appeared normal, with no sign of slumps, slides, or damage of any kind,
Revegetation
The growing season is effectively
over due to recent frost. Some
green was noted on plants near the
ground indicating temperatures
have not been extremely cold to
this point in the fall season
Transplanted shrubs continue to
appear generally healthy with no
sign of grazing by wildlife Some
evidence of cattle grazing was
observed, likely from a few head of
stray cattle. None were observed
on the site during the inspection.
Cattle may have been moved off
the Newlin Creek area and through
the Southfield site in recent weeks.
. _. ~~-
.
~.,. ~
overall, areas inspected appeared in good condition for the fall season
