(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1987-044
INSPECTION DATE 1/30/06
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was performed by the Division as part of its monitoring of Construction Materials 110 permits. The operator
was contacted about scheduling the inspection. The operator's representative named on page one was present during the
inspection.
The site was active during the inspection, with one loader and dump truck removing and hauling sand from the lower bench to
the offsite plant area. The height of the cut was about 4 feet, indicating there was from 0 to 4 feet of sand removed from the
lower bench, down nearly to the level of the adjacent Animas River. Excavation was nearly finished at the time of the
inspection. The resulting surface (pit floor) was about 1 foot above the present low river level, no fire tracks or fill material were
visible on the lower bank by the river, and no water was impounded on the pit floor.
The unmined areas of the site (access road, staging area, stockpile area) are sand with no topsoil or vegetation. The mined
area is all sand and is recharged regularly by the river. There was no mining debris on the site. A small stockpile of sand was
located on the upper bench (estimated volume was about 200 cu yds).
There was no reclamation, since all areas are still used in this small operation. There were no noxious weeds on the site.
The bond has not been recalculated in several years, so this office will figure what the current reclamation costs are and send
the updated figures to the operator for review. If a bond increase is needed, the operator will be notified and have 60 days to
provide the increase.
There were no problems noted. No further items were observed during the inspection. Responses to this inspection report
should be directed to the Division of Minerals and Geology, 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, Attn:
Bob Oswald; phone no. 970-247-5193.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Dave Dillon
OPERATOR Sandco, Inc.
STREET PO Box 4440
CITY/STATE/ZIP Durango, CO 81301
cc: Harry Posey, DMG
^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WOCD (CH)
^ OTHER
