A
`r`te
This letter is intended to provide an update to our field response activities that were initiated as a
result of our joint field inspection of the property on September 29, 1995. As you will recall,
three issues were identified as a result of the field inspection and included: 1) repay of a small
sloughed cave-in area above the back of the 9700 portal entry area, 2) reworking and
realignment of the east diversion ditch outlet structure for the lower tailings pond, and 3)
control of the Canadian thistle on the west side of the upper tailings pond.
Items # 1 and 3 above will be addressed during the 1996 field season as conditions allow and at
the time of effective weed control efforts. Reworking of the east diversion ditch was completed
last Fall at the lower tailing pond. The attached photo documentation indicates the work that
was completed and the newly constructed rip-rap channel that was constructed to handle runoff
drversion flows. The re-configured ditch now duects all potential runoff water into the
permanent spillway and thence exits through the spillway structure to the natural drainageway on
the east side of the dam. The rip-rap channel is designed and sized similar to the remainder of
the ditchline to insure that design flows are accommodated.
if you have any questions regarding the work completed to date, or the planned work for the 1996
field season, please contact me at your earliest convenience.
Sincer/el~y,
ADC\
cc: lA!Sorenson -Colorado DMG, Denver
R.R.
