(Page 2) •
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-82-036
INSPECTION DATE 6 23 98 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS CLK
l~
OBSERVATIONS
The following observations were made as part of a routine inspection of this 36 acre 112
gravel pit.
1. A sign was in place with the operator's name and the DMG permit number.
2. Fencing enclosed the boundaries of the site.
3. Measurements were taken of the currently disturbed area. A long cut runs the length of the
site (approximately 130' wide and 10' deep, with 1H:1V slopes along the west side, and
highwalls along the east side). Approximately another 80' wide, site-long strip has had
topsoil stripped and would need to be finish graded in order to bring that portion of the
site up to reclamation standards. There is about 1-2' of standing water in the cut.
4. Adequate topsoil stockpiles remain to reclaim the site to pasture (265'x 26'x 130', and
120'x 26'x 500'; a total of 86,250 CY) since only approximately 1' was required (58,080 CY
for the entire site).
5. Several areas that were previously excavated have been topsoiled and seeded, and currently
have 90-96~ cover. Yellow sweet clover, basin wildrye, wheatgrass, and brome are all present.
Some weeds (thistle, a small amount of cheatgrass) account for approximately 10~ of the
current vegetation.
No problems were apparent at this time. The bond will be recalculated and the financial
warranty checked within a month to determine if it is still current.
I 6 E Contact Address
NAME Mike Altavilla
OPERATOR Seneca Coal Co.
STREET P.O.
