' 4
INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE
FILE N0. 80-245
DATE: March 1, 1985
OBSERVATIONS OF IMPORTANCE:
1. The topsoil stockpiles were neither graded nor revegetated.
2. The overburden stockpile was graded, and appeared stable.
3. The Robinson Brick Company/S.C.S. reclamation research was implemented
in 1983; rill erosion resulted on the untopsoiled 1 1/2: 1 terraced
slopes.
4. An overburden stockpile area was revegetated for stabilization; rill
erosion resulted on this untopsoiled, un-mulched area.
5. Mining is proceeding according•to the mining plan.. Backfilling of mined
areas follows overburden'removai of areas to be mined.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Mike Leidich stated that the topsoil stockpiles will be graded 3H:1V and
reseeded this spring. These procedures are recommended.
As stated by Randy Hardzog, S.C.S. representative, the present 1 1/2H:1V
slopes will be regraded to slopes 3H:1V, or gentler, and seeded with the
fiinal reclamation seed mix upon completion of the 5 year Robinson Brick
Company/S.C.S. research agreement. We recommend this for slope
stabilization, as we.il as continuity: with future reclamation.
Doc..No:..8330.
