<br />III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the <br />inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or <br />evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This partial inspection of the Hamilton Mine was conducted by Wally Erickson from the <br />DMG Durango Office, 484 Turner Drive, Building F, Suite 101, Durango, CO 81301, <br />phone (970) 247-5469. No activity was observed, no mine personnel encountered. <br />Signs & Markers -Mine identification sign and safety signs were posted at mine <br />entrance. Perimeter markers were observed. Topsoil sigris were observed. <br />Roads -Access to mine site is provided by Montrose County Road HH31 from Colorado <br />Highway 141. Mine roads were well maintained. Road side drainage ditches were well <br />maintained. Road drainage for mine entrance road is treated for sediment by silt fence. <br />Silt fences were loose from their posts and need repair or removal. Road culverts were <br />clear. <br />Hydrologic Balance -Sediment pond A, located at far north end, was dry. Primary and <br />secondary spillways were intact, stable and clear of sediment and debris. Pond <br />embankment appeared stable. <br />Sediment pond B, located at the NE corner of permit area, was dry. Primary and <br />secondary spillways were intact, stable and clear. Pond embankment appeared stable. <br />Evidence of minor erosion observed at ditch inlets into pond B. <br />
