A grate has been placed over the structure to permit
access. The new culvert may need less maintenance since it has better grade.
The ranch road above the mine serves-as a diversion of undisturbed drainage. A
small berm, 2-6 inches, is inplace along this road. However, the plan for this ditch
on page 154 and 159 of the current Apex application states that a larger ditch or berm is
needed. The 10-year peak flow for this ditch is I2 cfs which requires a trapezoidal ditch
with a of flow of 1.3 ft. plus .3 ft. of freeboard. The ditch should therefore be about
1.6 feet deep. From my observations it appears that a larger ditch and or berm is needed
on this road. In a letter from David Canning to Carol Russell of Flined Land Reclamation
Division, Sunland Mining Company agreed to maintain the ditch or a 6 inch berm on the
outside of the road. At present the berm needs to be enlazged to pass the required flows.
Records
Mined Land Reclamation Division Permit, Application; and hydrologic monitoring
data were on file at the mine.
No additional problems or concerns were idel~tified with regards to the Rule 4
performance standards.
